The Church in War
The Black Saints were present at the siege of Crescent Bay, however their intervention in the war did not last long. The commander of the Saints attempted to murder Crysannia Mirel, whom the Sultan had aligned, with during one particular battle. She was put to the sword, returned to Dun-Ammon, and has never been heard from again. The Saints were ordered by the Sultan directly to return to New Lyrun else they face a reckoning after the war.
Although the Saints had considered turning against the coalition and attack Dun-Ammon for the insult upon the organization, any hope of such an assault being a) successful, b) useful to turn the tide of war, and c) not end with Dun-Ammon scouring the world clean of the Black Saints after the war was dashed when the Kingdom lost several major engagements, and Dry Town's garrison revolted, flipping the town and several thousand Crown soldiers against Port Sunrise.
The Saints took their shot, missed, and came out of the war with their ancient foes debilitated. That much was victory in itself.
VIEWS ON OTHER CHURCHES
- The Sun Church: Sworn (Enemy) Ironically enough, the Sun Church has done far more damage to itself than we ever did. Of course we take every opportunity to rub salt in those wounds.
- The Church of the Helmsman: (Hostile) They are more like us than they would ever admit, but their origins makes it impossible to break through their facade of ~honour~.
- The Church of Branneggarr: (Hostile) The Dwarves never liked us, and their drinks taste like they fermented garbage.
- The Church of Justin: (Hostile) They know better than to trim the hedges in our territories, but that doesn't mean we have to listen to them drone on and on about how we're such bad people.
- The Church of Mysilvia: (Hated) The best Druid is a dead one.
- The Church of the Quiet God: (Hostile) You would think they could be reasoned with. You would be terribly mistaken. Don't try to understand their logic, it's droll and headache-inducing.
- The Church of Cyparthia: (Neutral) Don't purge these ones. Take their lunch money.
- The Church of the War Triad: (Allied in part) Less of a church, more of a declaration of war. Some of them are somehow worse than the Sun Bit*h's paladins, some of them I actually get.
- The Church of the Death God: (Neutral) Though they share allegiances with others, we find them useful on occasion and not worth the trouble to antagonize.
- The Church of Ravenos: (Hostile) The Destroyer's children had their chance and blew it. Continue stomping on their faces every chance they get for their transgressions.
- The Church of Asoth Thal: (Neutral) We are still evaluating this new creation and its followers.
- The Church of Ruhn Alesi: (Allies) They know their place very well under our boots and for some reason enjoy it down there.
DEITY INFORMATION
Alignment: Tyrannos is Lawful Evil in nature
Appearance: Tyrannos does not normally appear to mortals in the flesh. There have been those that have described a giant of a man, dressed in Crimson and Black from head to toe carrying a massive great sword and a blood red cloak flowing freely. He strides the battlefield destroying those within reach and eradicating the weak as he sees fit. None have ever confirmed the rumors.
Messengers: Tyrannos is not a subtle god, and that is reflected in his choice of messengers. His favored choices include greater demons, including balors, balrogs, and whatever else he feels the need to send to drive home his message to the mortal realms. These particular beings despise being trifled with in any way, shape or form, and have no qualms about attacking and killing anyone they feel gets in their way, even the faithful of the Dark Father.
Known Powers and Practices: Tyrannos is more than simply darkness and evil. He is methodical and follows a certain code and ethics that he has set forth as his Tenets of Dark Faith. He uses his powers to cull and dominate the weak so that only the strong shall rule. His power is usually physical, but among his ranks are some of the most powerful cleric and mages lying in wait. He commands as the leader of the Dark and believes in an order. He is that order and without Him, there would be no order…only chaos among the Dark Ones.
Fellowships of Justin:
- The Black Saints: This order of Sacred Knights are the original temple guardians of New Lyrun. The Saints are an insular organization that requires a commander to vouch for one's inclusion. It is not enough that simply any Saint sponsors someone. It helps, but it is far more difficult to persuade a commander without him killing a potential.
Falling from FavorWhen the first creatures of Wilwarin came into being, some learned that the quickest way to subjugate others to their will was in the use of overwhelming strength to intimidate weaker opponents. Their desire to dominate others through fear and force pleased the dark powers forming in the new lands and coalesced into the being we now know as Tyrannos.
Eagerly he watched over the tribes and foundling cities, looking for that particular type of creature; one who wanted to win at all costs, one who was willing to frighten, bully, torment or torture others to his will. When Tyrannos found those who not only succeeded in such tyranny, but rejoiced in it, he offered them his blessings and gifts and promises of power as his chosen subjects. The more they enslaved, the stronger he grew until he was equal to his brother, Ravenos, in power.
During the Dark War, Tyrannos watched and learned, acknowledging Ravenos' power while coveting it for his own. When the gods of Light banished Ravenos, Tyrannos took notice. He realized then that the first thing that must fall is not the powerful, but the weak. If Kuri had fallen, would Ravenos have been detected and defeated by the Sun Goddess?
With what he has learned, the power he now has, and his closest rival banished by the gods of Light, Tyrannos is ready to gain even more power. And he will use the methods perfected by those tribes so long ago...cull and dominate the weak so that the strong may rule...
Unlike other deities, Tyrannos will discard a faithful not simply for a change of heart (alignment). It is possible for a Cleric to become fallen without an alignment shift. It is not simply defeat that is required, as that can be forgiven. It is the act of submitting to another force that is an unforgivable sin in the eyes of the Tyrannites and the Dark Father Himself. They suffer not the weak to remain in their ranks. Purge, or be purged. The tenant of might makes right is taken quite literally with this deity.
